My Story:
My passion for coaching, physical activity and lifestyle change are rooted in my own personal experience. As a child I was very sporty and loved movement (dance, swimming, team sports, gymnastics etc). When I entered my teens and things became difficult in my family life, I struggled with my relationship to food, my body and self-worth and unfortunately turned my back on exercise and took up smoking. It was only in my late 30s, having given up smoking, given birth to three children, and ending my academic career to accompany my husband internationally that I rediscovered the joys of being physically active and fit. I was living in West Africa at the time and had come to a juncture in my life where I needed a new direction and purpose. My transformation began when, totally by fluke, I went into a Taekwondo class and found that I had a real affinity to the art. Over time I began to feel the benefits of being physically active again, of using my body and feeling healthy. My struggles with food and my body began to diminish and my emotional world and outlook on life improved. I started going to the gym regularly. I researched becoming a taekwondo instructor* but came across health and wellbeing coaching and knew that that was my calling. I did the foundation training and studied to be a certified Personal Trainer, and qualified in both. Several years later I went on to complete an advanced coach training program which has taken my skills to a whole new level. I have never looked back. My own experience in turning my health and life around, and how important physical activity was to that, combined with my deep interest in the science of behaviour change and human flourishing, fuel my passion for the work I do. *Even though I didn't pursue this, I did continue and attained my Black belt, a real personal achievement for me. |

I am a certified Professional Health & Well-Being Coach, Lifestyle Medicine Coach and Mindful Eating Coach and have been practising since 2011.
As a Health & Wellness Coach I am an expert facilitator of mindset and behaviour change. I support my clients to overcome the internal and external obstacles that hold them back from meeting their full potential and living as healthy and fulfilling lives as they possibly can. Through deep, personalised coaching, I help my clients to find the motivation and develop the tools to optimise their emotional and physical health and wellbeing.
My coaching approach integrates the evidence-based principles and tools of several psychology and behaviour change models as well as insights and strategies from the science of habits, neuroscience, positive psychology, Motivational Interviewing, adult development, Acceptance & Commitment Training (ACT), mindfulness and goal setting. I use a variety of modalities as no single approach suits everybody.
I received both my foundation and advanced coach training through Wellcoaches, USA - the gold standard for high-impact, evidence based and innovative coach training and certification for health and wellness professionals.
I am also a certified Personal Trainer, Weight Management Specialist, Behaviour Change Specialist and an Executive Coach.

Instructor. Essentrics® is a full-body dynamic stretch and strength workout.
