One of the challenges of living with a chronic health condition, is to learn how to function at your best, regardless of the difficulties life presents. I have experience of helping people with a chronic illness explore healthy ways to live. Through coaching I help my clients to overcome the physical, mental and emotional problems caused by their health condition, achieve the things they want to do and get pleasure from life.
I blend insights from positive psychology, non-violent communication (NVC), emotional intelligence, goal setting and the programs below to generate personalised support to reach your personal goals and improve quality of life.
Reclaim Your Life from Illness, disability, pain or fatigue: Your life … is more important than your illness.
Would you like it back?
Even if you are bed-bound, depressed, chronically fatigued, or unable to see or get about, this program will help. If you’ve had a diagnosis that frightens you – that might even feel like a death sentence – or if you’re struggling after years of impaired mobility, there are ways to help you feel a bit better each day.
This six session course aims to help those with a Long Term Health Condition (LTC) get back on track. It can also help LTC carers.
Joanne can coach you through this six week programme
Alternatively group sessions can be arranged in-person (in the Glasgow area) or online via webinar.
I am also familiar with the Stanford University self-management programme to support people living with long term conditions (see Self-manangement of long-term health conditions: a handbook for people with chronic disease, by Kate Lorig et al - available from any good bookstore) and the Patient's Skills Programme used in many parts of the UK (see http://personcentredcare.health.org.uk/resources/patient-skills-programme) .
